they are kind of tart, eaten raw, but Grandma Ellen has made all kinds off good stuff with them, including tonight's treat, fried apples. But they taste more like baked apples with brown sugar... mmmm very delicious. Enough apples for a commune, that's for sure. Come to Portland for Francesca--stay for the apples! :-p
